In this very popular series of paintings I was inspired by the rough Oregon coastline. In particular the contrast between the smooth liquid texture of the water rushing into shore and pouring over the rocks; against the texture of jagged rocky cliffs and boulders. Here I am taking elements from nature and abstracting them to different degrees. In these abstracted landscapes I work with thin washes of oil paint and add layers of cold wax on top to give them depth and richness.
