					The Torso


















					This is an on going series of paintings of the figure that I love to do. In this series I experiment with color palettes and unique color pairing. The brushwork is bold and expressive. I work on mylar which really supports the use of expressive brushwork. Some of these figurative paintings start as graphite drawings, and with some oil paint has been added. Others are all oil painted onto the mylar. Once these mylar paintings are dry the surface is hard enough that they do not need to be protected behind glass. These figurative paintings are very unique, because they are painted on a translucent surface they can be backlit, hang as a scroll or framed like a traditional oil painting.
